Pilgrims march against poverty
On 17 October, Church Action on Poverty's supporters took to the streets in many cities for a walk of witness. They became Pilgrims Against Poverty.
The walks marked the 10th anniversary of our original Pilgrimage Against Poverty, which saw Pilgrims walking all the way form Iona to London in order to deliver our Agenda for Change to the Chancellor. This time, we wanted to raise awareness of the ongoing problem of poverty in the UK, and raise funds to support our work for the future.
Successful Pilgrimage events took place in:
- Newcastle and Jarrow (organised by CAP North East)
Visit the website of the Catholic diocese of Hexham & Newcastle to read a full report and see photos of the Newcastle Pilgrimage. - Leeds (organised by CAP Leeds)
- Sheffield (organised by CAP in Sheffield)
- Manchester (organised by CAP central office)
- Liverpool (organised by Merseyside And Region CAP)
- Peterborough (organised by the Anglican Diocese)
We would like to thank all the people who organised and took part in the Pilgrimages for their dedication to the fight against poverty.
