Local crisis funds are a vital lifeline for people who find themselves suddenly swept into difficulty. Yet across the country, they have been neglected and removed. In 2018, our Compassion In Crisis report uncovered the full extent of cuts across England.
We never know when emergency or crisis will strike. When it does, it is vital that support is available. Our new report today, however, shows such support has been cut drastically across the country, leaving thousands of people adrift.
Crisis support schemes run by local authorities are failing to operate effectively with increasing numbers of destitute people turning instead to food banks and other voluntary agencies for help, according to a new report published by The Children’s Society and
