Greenbelters Pledge to support Fair Taxes!

At the Greenbelt festival this year, festival-goers visited our Tax Haven Treasure Island and made a special Pledge...

Visitors explored our special 'Tax Haven Treasure Island' display, which explained the tax dodges that allow wealthy individuals and companies to avoid paying their fair share - and spelled out the unfair impact this has on people in poverty.

They then made a simple Pledge: 'I will pay my fair share of taxes - and call on others to do the same.'

A number of prominent speakers at the festival joined us and made the Plegde, including:

  • Richard Wilkinson (author of The Spirit Level)
  • Ann Morisy (theologian and economist)
  • Inderjit Bhogal (theologian, activist and former Presient of Methodist Conference)

The Pledgers will now take part in our 'Close the Gap' campaign actions, which inc oming months will focus on our call for Fair Taxes. Watch this psace for more information - or you could join in right now, by writing to your local paper about Fair Taxes.
