North East group engages and empowers young people
16 young researchers received specialist training before designing their own questionnaire. They used the questionnaire to interview 80 other young people, then brought groups together to discuss the findings, which identified some of the real barriers that young people, without skills and work record, face.
Those who received training became more confident and more motivated as a result, and felt they could now make a difference in their own lives and communities. The young people are now using their new-found research skills to look at housing and health policies, and the implications for young people.
We'll share the full report from this work here soon.
