Confused by all the asylum seeker campaigns?

A quick introduction to the various campaigns to change the government's asylum policy, and how they relate to CAP's own Living Ghosts campaign.

Confused by all the asylum seeker campaigns?

Living Ghosts

In 2005 we launched our Living Ghosts campaign to end the government policy of making people refused asylum destitute. We believe that that "work for those who can; and support for those who can't" should be for everyone in Britain.

We are part of the Still Human Still Here campaign, which is calling for proper support and rights for people refused asylum and is supported by a variety of human rights, refugee, legal and faith groups. We also support a campaign  initiated by the Refugee Council and TUC called Let Them Work that wants people seeking asylum, or whose applications have been refused, to be allowed to work after six months here, while they remain in the UK.

You may have also heard of a London-based campaign called Strangers Into Citizens which would like undocumented migrants, who have been here for four or more years, to be be admitted to a two-year pathway to full legal rights.
