Debt on our Doorstep goes local
The first local network has been set up for the Debt on our Doorstep campaign against extortionate lending.
Following a successful event in February, agencies in Knowsley near Liverpool have now established a local Debt on our Doorstep campaign network.
The campaign will initially focus on payday lending activities in the area. However, they will also be challenging the energy company United Utilities, who have announced that they will be using the notorious "weekly payment store" Brighthouse, instead of the post office, for people to pay their bills from 1 August onwards!
We wish the Knowsley network every success in their campaigns. Debt on our Doorstep would welcome similar moves to establish local campaigns in other areas. If you are interested, contact DooD Coordinator Damon Gibbons.
