On Monday, the Baptist Assembly passed a resolution on care for church employees, calling for churches to consider carefully their employment practice in the light of Church Action on Poverty’s work highlighting the need for churches to work for social justice within their own communities.

The Methodist Conference in 2007 adopted CAP's Living Wage policy for all lay employees of the Methodist Church - though no one told us at the time!

"The Living Wage as recommended by Church Action on Poverty should form the minimum basic salary for people employed by a District, Circuit or Local Church. As from 1st October 2006 this is £6.80hr (outside London) or £7.25hr
(London) or £14,144/ £15,080 per annum, for a 40-hour week."

The United Reformed Church's assembly is also due to debate a Living Wage resolution in July.
