set up a group

Resources to help you get started

  • Find a small group of people interested in holding your MP to account. These could be friends, people from your church, a Churches Together group, or anyone else you think might be interested. You can find a letter inviting people to join a group here or you could distribute this flyer. Further advice on running a group is available here.
  • Once you have a group, get in contact with your MP and ask to set up a meeting. A sample letter is available here. You can discuss any poverty-related issues you feel strongly about, and Church Action on Poverty will help by sending you quarterly briefings on a range of subjects.
  • Make sure you get the most out of meeting your MP - read our simple hints and tips.
  • After you have had your first meeting, ask your MP if it would be possible for you to meet again, preferably three or four times a year.
  • Contact us if you have any queries or need any assistance: or 0161 236 9321.
