Help us tackle the scandal of food poverty

Walking the Breadline photoLast year, half a million people in the UK depended on emergency food aid.

The single most common reason for people to need food aid is that their benefits have been changed, delayed or stopped.

The explosion in food poverty and the use of food banks is a national disgrace. It undermines the UK's commitment to ensuring all its citizens have access to food - one of the most basic human rights.

We urgently need action to stop our benefits system making people destitute. Parliament has now set up a national inquiry into how this is happening. We need to make sure the inquiry heard the voices of the people who are being made to go hungry.
