This Pilgrimage event is being organised by CAP North East. The sites on the walk all have a historical and spiritual connection with the fight against poverty and injustice.
Other events are taking place in many parts of the country on the same weekend, to raise awareness of poverty issues and raise funds for campaigning work.
Please join a Pilgrimage event in your region, and stand in solidarity with people in poverty! Contact the local organiser, or the CAP office, to register your interest in taking part.
The provisional timetable for this event is as follows:
11.40 Assemble at St. John���s church on Grainger St
12.00 Pilgrims walk out via Tyne Bridge
12.20 Meet pilgrims & dignitaries at Gateshead Old Town Hall
13.35 Break for picnic & toilets at St. Mary���s church, Heworth
14.00 Walk to Shields via Shields Road
14.30 Walk to Jarrow via Victoria Rd
15.10 Meet at Northbourne Road, Jarrow
16:00 Service/event in Jarrow Church
Local church leaders, councillors, MPs and other dignitaries will be supporting this event.
