Have you heard the term "credit crunch" but wonder exactly what is it and where it came from? Are you and your church wondering what we should be doing for those affected by it? This interactive day will help you understand the credit crunch and its impact upon the poor.

We will see how Christian groups and churches can best respond and which areas they would be wise to avoid. Biblical approaches to debt and debtors will be included and information about the legal status of doorstep lenders, loan sharks, credit unions and the CAB. We will share our stories so everyone can leave inspired and confident to bring good news to the poor.

Contributors to the day:

  • Revd Dr Philip Bee- Director of the Oastler Centre for Faith and Economic Life in Leeds
  • David Roberts - Leeds City Council Financial Inclusion Unit
  • We also hope to have Diane Lyons - Chief Executive of Leeds Citizens Advice Bureau

Directions: Leeds station is a 10-minute walk. There is a free circular bus to Park Lane College near St Georges. Parking is limited to some street parking on the west side of the Leeds Ring Road, five minutes' walk. The best options are the city centre multi-storey car parks.

10 per person including lunch to be paid on the day.
