Get Fair campaigners get poverty discussed in Parliament

Together against poverty

Campaigners from Young Christian Workers had met with Andrew Pelling, the independent MP for Croydon Central, and talked to him about the Get Fair campaign.

As a result, Pelling suggested in the House of Commons that there should be a debate about poverty reduction before the General Election. Harriet Harman MP, the Minister responsible for equality, commended the work of Young Christian Workers.

This is an excellent example of how grassroots campaigning can get important issues raised publicly. Young Christian Workers also took part in our recent delivery of a petition to Downing Street.
