Churches offer guidance on levels of pay

The Free Churches have issued guidance on the morality of pay, calling for a limit on pay at the top.
Churches offer guidance on levels of pay

Limiting wages at the top could help to close the gap between rich and poor

The guidance calls on churches only to invest their money in companies where the highest-paid staff receive no more than 75 times the salary of the lowest-paid worker.

This concern about the morality of high pay reflects issues raised in our own campaign to Close the Gap between rich and poor. It also complements the work being done by many churches to ensure a Living Wage for those at the bottom end of the income scale.

Until 24 March, you can hear Bill Seddon of the Methodist Church explaining the guidance on the BBC website.

Below, you can see John Battle MP making the case for a High Pay Commission.
